OnSafe SVG is a modular and scalable solution for massive recording of IP video streams. Video and associated information as audio and metadata from video codecs and analytic devices, is taken in through Ethernet ports by unicast or multicast and is stored in hard disk arrays. All that information is also available to operators for playback or exported to external devices as pen drives, DVD’s and similar media. A complete network video recorder is build up with windows based network storage server loaded with the onSafeSVG software.

In the usual format, the network storage server consists on a windows 2003 based server housed in a 3U cabinet using high availability hardware (Dual core Xeon CPU, tray for 16 hot swap discs, SATA ESII discs, sophisticated ventilation system with multiple fans, 3 power supplies, double LAN connection and disk controller interface with RAID support, etc.).

The main features of the SVG video storage platform are the following:

  • Storage and retrieval of native multi standard IP video flows and related information issued by supported video codecs and analytics devices.
  • Export of video files in native format or transcoded to commonly used formats as AVI, FLV (Flash media player) or Windows Media Player.
  • Support for secure video export using public key cryptography technology, including video encryption and digital signature.
  • Recording of video marks to provide users with direct access to recordings at the moment of specific events, thus reducing tenfold the search for images. Marks within the video include individual video analytics events and any event generated in I/O contacts.
  • Advanced video search criteria based on system supported events.
  • Modular and scalar architecture that supports large scale installation with hundreds of cameras and Petabytes (1.000Terabytes) of video storage.
  • High availability features: Video stream from one codec can be sent to one network storage server and to a backup unit in case of failure of the first one.
  • Support of network storage server operational alarms as disk or power supply failures, hard disks failures, etc.
